Prena Scholarship

About the Programme :

PRERANA Scholarship is a post-matric scholarship portal implemented by the ST & SC Development and Minority & Other Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Odisha. Started with the main objective to give financial assistance to economically weaker students of the state, PRERANA aims to ease the processes related to scholarship applications and timely payment of scholarship amount to eligible students’ bank account.

  • The portal lets students submit their application online at any given period of time from any place.
  • It helps students track the status of their application.
  • It helps students apply afresh with the same credentials in a new course of a new college.
  • There is also the provision of bar-coding that lets the officials filter out the fake applications.
  • Students and educational institutions receive SMS and e-mail alerts at various stages of processing.
  • The applications can be renewed (importing the applications from the previous year) by the institutes only.
  • Institutes get benefitted by the auto and bulk processing of scholarship applications.
  • Scholarship sanctioning process has been made easy for the Sanctioning Authority.
  • Auto disbursal of scholarship to student’s bank account.
  • It has become easy for the Department and State Authority to monitor scholarships.

PRERANA Scholarship – Eligibility Criteria :

The post-matriculation scholarships listed on PRERANA can be applied by candidates belonging to the state of Odisha. Also, one key component in eligibility criteria is that the candidates must be pursuing studies at the post-matric level in any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV.

Group I: Graduate/Postgraduate level courses in engineering, medical, agriculture and veterinary. Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) course, PG diploma course in management & medicine, courses related to Accountancy M.Phil., Ph.D. and postdoctoral programme (D. Lit, D.Sc. etc), LLM

Group II: Graduate/Postgraduate courses leading to degree, diploma certification areas like pharmacy, nursing, paramedical, LLB, mass communication, hotel management, interior decoration, etc. PG courses like MA, M.Sc., M.Com., M.Ed., M.Pharma, etc.

Group III: +3 courses

Group IV: +2, ITI, 3-year diploma & 2 years vocational courses

Detailed Eligibility for PRERANA Scholarships

The applicant’s annual family income must not exceed INR 2.5 Lakh. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Odisha. The applicant must be continuing his/her post-matriculation studies in any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV. The applicant must be studying in a government or government-recognised private institution.
2Post-matric Scholarship for ST
The annual family income of the candidate must not exceed INR 2.5 Lakh. The applicant must be a permanent resident of Odisha. The applicant must be studying post-matriculation studies in any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV. The student must be pursuing studies in a government or government-recognised private institution.
3Post-matric Scholarship for OBC/SEBC
The annual family income of the applicant must not be more than INR 1 Lakh. The applicant must have secured at least 50% marks in the previous exam. The candidate must be a permanent resident of Odisha. The applicant must be continuing his/her post-matriculation studies in any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV. The applicant must be studying in a government or private institution.
4Post-matric Scholarship for EBC
The annual family income of the applicant from all sources must not exceed INR 1 Lakh. The applicant must be continuing his/her higher studies from a government institution only. The candidate must be pursuing any of the courses mentioned under Group I, II, III & IV. This scholarship scheme is only applicable for the EBC of General category.
